Emergency services rushed to meet a flight after it was forced into an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this evening. United Parcel Service (UPS) flight 207/5X207 performed an emergency arrival on the airport's north runway due to a landing gear issue. The flight made two go arounds before touching down in Dublin after reporting an issue while in the air over the Irish Sea. The plane had come from Louisville and was scheduled to land at Dublin just before 6pm, but it was delayed due to the landing gear problem. Emergency services were waiting as it landed safely at 6.45pm, Dublin Live reports. But due to the issue, and the need to remove the aircraft from the path, flight operations were removed from the north runway this evening. As a result, all flights were taking off and landing on the south runway, with the airport still operating as normal. Dublin Airport said: "All flights at Dublin Airport are taking off and landing as normal this evening, using our South Runway only, as our airfield operations teams assist an aircraft on the North Runway. Passengers due to fly this evening should make their way to the airport as normal." It comes after a Ryanair plane bound for Spain was forced to turn back to the UK after declaring a mid-air emergency this week. Flight FR7842 departed Glasgow Prestwick Airport at around 7.30am on May 11 and was scheduled for a routine flight to Murcia, having reached an altitude of 35,000ft. Just over an hour into the journey, crew members transmitted a Squawk 7700 code - the international signal for a general emergency - after a passenger became unwell. The plane was diverted over the English Channel and made its way towards Stansted Airport , where it landed safely at 9:10am. The passenger was then disembarked and met by medics. A Ryanair spokesperson said: "This flight from Glasgow Prestwick to Murcia International diverted to London Stansted after a passenger became ill on board. "Crew called ahead for medical assistance to meet the aircraft upon landing at London Stansted Airport. The passenger was disembarked and was met by medics."
