ekonomiye kazandırılması amacıyla başlattığı proje doğrultusunda Biyokütle Enerji Santrali ile Çöp Ayrıştırma İstasyonu inşa edildi. Yürürlüğe 2021'de konulan proje kapsamında il genelindeki çöpler belediye ekiplerince toplanarak ayrıştırma istasyonuna götürülüyor. 23 çalışan tarafından geri dönüştürülebilir nitelikteki plastik, karton, alüminyum gibi malzemeler, lisanslı geri dönüşüm firmalarına gönderiliyor. Kalan çürüme özelliğine sahip organik ürünler ise Biyokütle Enerji Santrali'ne taşınıyor. Burada özel korunaklı fermente odalarında belli sürelerde bekletilen organik atıklardan çıkan metan gazı, 50 bin metreküp kapasiteli balonda toplanıyor. Tesiste bulunan ve balondan gelen gazla çalışan 12 ve 16 silindirli iki motor, alternatör aracılığıyla gazı elektrik enerjisine dönüştürüyor. Elektrik, daha sonra ulusal sisteme dahil ediliyor. Santralin işletme müdürü Bilge Kaan Aktar, AA muhabirine, tesisin enerji ve geri dönüşüm sektörlerine sağladığı katkının yanı sıra çevreye de son derece faydalı bir tesis olduğunu söyledi. Tesisin 2,8 megavat kurulu güce sahip olduğunu belirten Aktar, "Burada ayda ortalama 400 ton civarında evsel atık düzenli şekilde depolanıyor. Tesiste iki elektrik üretim motorumuz ve gaz motorumuz var. Kurulu gücümüz 2,8 megavat. 2021 şubatından itibaren 5 milyon 250 bin kilovat elektrik üretimi gerçekleştirdik. Bu, yaklaşık 8 bin hanenin yıllık elektrik ihtiyacına denk gelmektedir." dedi. Tesisin çevreye zarar veren etmenleri bertaraf ettiğini dile getiren Aktar, şöyle konuştu: "Tesisin çevreye zararı yok, yararı var. Aslında tesisin hiç olmaması, çevreye zarar olarak görülebilir. Çünkü tesisin olmaması durumunda gelen evsel atıklar vahşi olarak depolanacak ve doğaya sera gazı salınımı olacak. Gazın kontrolsüz şekilde doğaya salınımı ve vahşi depolamanın getirdiği tehlikeler mevcut. Çöpün içinde biriken gazın elektrik enerjisine dönüşmesiyle aslında patlama riskini ortadan kaldırıyoruz. Ayrıca çöp suyunun doğaya, yer altı su kaynaklarına karışmasını da engelliyoruz. Gazların da kontrolsüz şekilde doğaya salınmasını önlemiş oluyoruz. Evsel atıkların elektriğe dönüşmesi, çevreye salınan gazların engellenmesi olarak bakarsak fazlasıyla yararlı bir tesis olduğunu söyleyebiliriz." Çöp ayrıştırma ve enerji üretilen iki tesiste 42 kişinin çalıştığını anlatan Aktar, "Hem kendimize hem sektöre hem de doğaya fayda sağlamış oluyoruz. Hem çöplerin toplanmasında hem de enerji üretim sürecinde Çorum Belediyesinin çok desteğini görüyoruz." ifadesini kullandı.
