Cops investigate death of woman, 33, found dead in her stateroom on board Celebrity Cruises ship

The woman, identified as 'K.D.' by Il Secolo XIX, was found by her partner, a fellow worker on the Celebrity Constellation, on July 19. The ship was sailing to La Spezia in Italy at the time. The cruise liner's officers and on-board medical personnel were alerted and responded to the situation, the outlet said. Once docked, cops from the Italian State Police boarded the ship to join the investigation. Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, local media reported that authorities believe the scene suggested suicide. Il Secolo XIX reported that time-stamped security footage showed when the individuals concerned entered and exited the cabin. There is no indication of foul play or suspicion of guilt at this time and no charges or arrests have been made. K.D.'s body was moved to the Sant'Andrea Hospital morgue to be available for authorities to investigate. It returned to Civitavecchia, Rome on July 20. The ship has already departed on its next voyage, a one-way trip spanning 11 days to Ravenna. La Spezia was the final port visit for the ship, following on from an itinerary that included destinations in Italy, Montenegro, and Croatia.  The Celebrity Constellation contains 11 decks spanning a total length of 965 feet. It can hold up to 2,184 guests and utilizes a crew of 1,022 team members. Crew contracts generally last several months, but it is currently unclear whether this was K.D.'s first contract with Celebrity.
