Teenage talent Alphadjo Cisse ‘never thought I could score on my debut for Milan,’ but has won over coach Ruben Amorim with his goal in a 2-1 victory over Torino.
The Rossoneri have been preparing for life without Rafael Leao, and as the Portugal international is currently injured, they looked to Cisse to start in tonight’s Serie A season opener.
It proved a masterstroke, because he scored the goal that broke the deadlock just moments before he was due to be substituted.
Adrien Rabiot provided the assist and then found the net himself for a second, while Che Adams got one back for Torino in stoppages.
Cisse star is born at Milan
“These are unique emotions, I never thought I could score on my debut for Milan, but I am above all happy that we got a victory,” Cisse told DAZN Italia.
Amorim said in yesterday’s press conference that he ‘loves’ Cisse when asked to name a player that had impressed him in the Milan squad.
“I can only be pleased with those words. I didn’t watch the press conference, I was focused on preparing for the game, but my friends told me about it.”
Cisse clarified that his name does not have an accent on the end, and explained how he managed to make his mark at the Milanello training ground.
“I believed in myself, I’d been training with the senior side for a while, then when I got injured I’d be there watching to get to know the coach, so it was easier to get involved.”
