China unveils terrifying AI invention that brings back the dead

ALBAWABA - A start-up in China recently sparked debate on social media after unveiling a $3 device that can clone people's deceased loved ones using AI technology. 

According to several reports, the affordable invention allows users to interact with their deceased loved ones via a hologram by uploading their photos, voices, and chat histories to replicate their personality.

At only $3, the service garnered a lot of attention on social media, with users split between praising the company or pointing out the dangers of AI and the creation's negative effects on human behavior, including the ethical debate in mourning deceased loved ones and letting go. Additionally, several others said that it felt uncanny and compared it to a Black Mirror episode. 

A social media user wrote on Reddit, "There’s a big difference between remembering someone and interacting with a simulated version of them. That line matters more than the price tag." 

Another added, "It seems to talk a whole lot on its own..anyway creepy AF but interesting."

Several videos flooded social media, and captured an orange device that featured a hologram of an old grandpa speaking to the individual holding it. Reports indicate that the device is spreading quickly across China, while audiences outside the country remain skeptical due to AI's controversial nature.
