An aggressive man reversed into a woman on purpose and ran over her on her own driveway. She became trapped and had to be rescued by firefighters, suffering fractured ribs and various other injuries, as her children looked on in horror. Morgan Davison, 27, attended his victim's home in Cardiff on September 26, 2024, after he became involved in a dispute with her husband about the sale of a car engine for £1,000. The husband was not there and the victim and the defendant became involved in a heated discussion on her doorstep. A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court on Friday heard Davison became "bullying and aggressive" and raised his voice at the victim in order to intimidate her. Stay in the know by making sure you’re receiving our daily newsletter He struck out at a Ring doorbell camera in a rage, and the victim picked up a golf club in order to defend herself. The defendant filmed the victim and mocked her while laughing at her, while she went over to his Volkswagen Taigo in order to photograph the number plate. In response, Davison threatened to kill the victim and got into his car before reversing into her deliberately. Initially he hit the victim in the knee and she placed her hands on the car. The defendant reversed into her again and she remained standing. Davison revved the engine and reversed at a higher speed, hitting the victim harder and sending her flying five feet. He then reversed back until the car was on top of her, as her children were screaming through the house window. The victim was badly injured and trapped under the car, having suffered fractured ribs and injuries to her torso, arms and legs. The fire service was called to remove the victim from underneath the car. She described the pain she felt as "worse than childbirth". She was taken to hospital where she received treatment for rib fractures and a haematoma to her head, before she was discharged two days later. Davison, of Ynys y Mond Road, Alltwen, Pontardawe, denied assaulting the victim, claiming he had panicked because he feared for his life. The defendant was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and dangerous driving, following a trial. The court heard he had 11 previous convictions. In her victim personal statement, the victim said: "He hit me with his vehicle, leaving me trapped underneath for 90 minutes until I was rescued by the emergency services. It has affected me terribly in both the physical and mental side of things. It has undoubtedly had a lasting impact and my mental health has massively gone downhill. "I haven't left my home for a significant period of time over a fear of leaving the house. I have felt anxious and have suffered panic attacks. It has become so severe I have had to stop to get help. The muscles in my right hand have wasted away as a result of this incident." In mitigation, Hywel Davies said his client's partner and two children would be made homeless if he was sent to prison, due to the rent on the garage he rented for his business, and his full-time employee would lose his job. Sentencing, Judge Eugene Egan said the evidence against the defendant was "overwhelming". The judge added: "It's a miracle the injuries did not go beyond actual bodily harm. You intended to teach her a lesson that day. You claimed to be in fear of immediate death but no injuries were caused to you and your windows were not damaged." Davison was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and was disqualified from driving for three years and three months.
