The Chicago Bears entered the 2026 NFL Draft on April 23 with seven picks over the three-day draft.With the 25th pick, they got their starting safety with Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman, Dane Brugler’s 18th-ranked player overall and top-rated safety. Thieneman will start alongside Coby Bryant, the team’s prize addition in free agency. He’s the first safety the Bears have selected in the first round since Mark Carrier in 1990. It’s a no-brainer for general manager Ryan Poles, coach Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen — a versatile, playmaking safety who will start Day 1 and play every snap.
