Sources briefed on the matter, speaking anonymously to The Athletic as they were not permitted to speak publicly, confirmed that Estevao is currently in Brazil. While there, he is using the facilities at his former club Palmeiras under Chelsea’s guidance. A Chelsea source confirmed that this is a short term-arrangement, with Estevao expected back in London before the end of the season to continue his recovery with the London side. Estevao’s hamstring injury has put his participation at the World Cup in serious doubt. Since making his senior debut for Brazil in 2024, Estevao has won 11 senior caps, scoring four goals in his last four appearances for the national team. Estevao moved to Chelsea from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025, having agreed to join the club the previous year. In his debut season, he has scored eight goals across 36 appearances.
