Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat to Brighton proved to be the final straw for the 41-year-old, who had presided over five consecutive league losses without scoring for the first time since 1912. That has seen the Blues slip out of Champions League contention and they now sit seventh, which may not even be good enough for the Europa League. Rosenior's sacking comes as a shock given the lack of time he's been in charge. His stint even surpassed that of Graham Potter, who was axed after just under seven months. Chelsea maintained that their recent results were unacceptable and, having only just publicly backed Rosenior, they've now opted for a change with Calum McFarlane taking temporary charge for the second time this season.
