Charlie McAvoy ejected from Bruins' loss to Sabres for slashing Zach Benson

BOSTON — Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy didn’t get to participate in the series-ending handshake after his team lost to the Buffalo Sabres in Game 6. He was already in the locker room after getting ejected from the game in the final minutes.Late in the third period, with the Sabres up 4-1, McAvoy was racing toward a loose puck in the corner when Sabres forward Zach Benson slew-footed him. McAvoy fell and crashed into the boards. He immediately got up, charged toward Benson and swung his stick at him, connecting on the slash.
