Ceasefire extended: US to continue military blockade of Iranian ports
US blocks Iraq's dollar shipments
US President Donald Trump's administration has suspended US dollar shipments to Iraq and frozen security cooperation programmes with its military, increasing pressure on Baghdad to dismantle powerful Iranian-backed militias, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing Iraqi and US officials.
Ceasefire extended
In a series of developments late last night, US President Donald Trump announced that he will extend the ceasefire until Iran can submit a unified proposal on the request of Pakistan.
Trump added he would maintain Washington's naval blockade of the country's ports. He posted on social media that he would "extend the ceasefire" until Iran came up with a proposal to end the conflict. However, he "directed our military to continue the blockade."
The ceasefire extension came hours before it was believed to be set to expire.
