Ceasefire day 4: Iranian delegation to meet with Pakistan PM today
Day 4 of ceasefire
All eyes will be on Islamabad as Iran’s negotiating team arrived on Friday for talks with the United States aimed at ending their six-week war, though last-minute uncertainty lingered as Tehran insisted key issues must be addressed first.
The Iranian delegation, led by parliamentary speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, touched down ahead of the expected meetings.
The US side is led by Vice President JD Vance, alongside President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
A major sticking point remains whether the conflict in Lebanon is part of the ceasefire. The US and Israel say it is not, while Tehran insists it must be included.
Qalibaf said on X that Washington had previously agreed to unblock Iranian assets and support a ceasefire in Lebanon, adding that talks would not begin until those commitments are met.
There was no immediate response from the White House to Iran’s demands. However, Trump said in a social media post that negotiations were Iran’s only option.
