CCTV is released after Tube passenger 'is dragged to the ground by man who tried to rape her - before she fought back and managed to flee'

By OLIVIA CHRISTIE, NEWS REPORTER Published: 18:42, 14 July 2026 | Updated: 18:46, 14 July 2026 CCTV footage has been released of a person police want to speak to after a lone woman reported being dragged to the ground on the Tube by a man who tried to rape her.  The alleged attack unfolded on a Bakerloo Line train between Waterloo and Lambeth North at around 11.40pm on Saturday.  Police said a man approached the woman, who was travelling alone, and exposed himself to her.  He is then said to have forcibly pulled her to the floor and attempted to rape her, but she managed to fight back.  The woman fled the train at Lambeth North, where she alerted station staff. The man stayed on the train and got off at Elephant and Castle Underground station. Officers have been working to track the man's movements and believe he was also at Oxford Circus before the attack and Piccadilly Circus Underground station after it. British Transport Police Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah said: 'Our officers are supporting the victim following this horrific incident. CCTV footage has been released of a person police would like to speak to after a lone woman reported being dragged to the ground on the Tube by a man who tried to rape her Police shared CCTV footage of a person they believe could help them with their investigation 'We understand incidents of this nature are deeply concerning for the public and we're appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in the CCTV footage.  'One line of enquiry is that he may be homeless. 'We are asking anyone who recognises the man in the images to text us his name to 61016 quoting reference 948 of 11 July.  'He may have vital information that could assist our ongoing investigation.'
