CBS revealed Wednesday that it has ordered “The Price Is Right Live,” a one-hour special set to air during the holiday season. Drew Carey will host. “‘The Drew Carey Show’ actually aired live episodes, and he loves what he does,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said on Wednesday during CBS’ fall schedule announcement press conference. “I would never not do it without him!” Reisenbach said the “Price Is Right” producers have come to the network with “a really fun pitch that we’ve seen that really justifies it. We challenged them, we really liked the idea of doing this, but how do you make it unique and specific and not feel like a taped episode? And they’ve got some really fun ideas that they’re going to implement to bring the audience into that live experience. I think the prizes arewhat brings people in, the joy of seeing people win. And at the holiday season, I can’t imagine anything more fun for everyone to witness people winning prizes live.” Popular on Variety Among other specials announced Wednesday, CBS also revealed that it will simulcast the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with sister kids cabler Nickelodeon this fall, for the first time in the kudocast’s nearly 40 years (it launched in March 1987). Meanwhile, for the second year in a row CBS will also simulcast the MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. ET. Also returning: “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET and 10:30 p.m. ET, while the 84th Golden Globes — with host Nikki Glaser returning for a third time — airs Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027 at 8 p.m. ET.
