Carlos Queiroz Takes Charge of Ghana Just Before the World Cup
Rabat – The Ghanaian football association has appointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach to lead the national team through the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ghana decided to change its coach after ending its association with Otto Addo. The decision came after a series of disappointing results, especially in recent friendly matches where the team struggled against their opponents. The federation needed to take immediate action because the World Cup is approaching, so they could improve the team’s chances.
Therefore, they selected Carlos Queiroz to take over the coaching position because of his experience in international football. He has managed teams from Portugal, Iran, Egypt, Spain with Real Madrid, and England as Sir Alex Ferguson’’s right hand. He has also coached 6 different nations, with Oman being his previous assignment.
His World Cup experience was the main reason Ghana decided to hire him, betting on his vast experience in major matches.
Yet his work will be difficult. The Ghana team needs to be ready for the competition, and Queiroz has a very limited time to prepare them properly. The players need to be well organized, the game plan needs to be set on the table. Pulling this off is even more challenging in such a short period of time.
The World Cup will bring tough matches for Ghana, which will create extra stress for the new coach. The team needs to build a strong structure to begin their first match, which will then help them achieve successful results.
The late change shows Ghana takes a risk because they want Queiroz’’s international experience to help them compete at the highest level. The coming days will determine if he’ll be the right man at the right time or not.
