Canucks wrapping up first round of GM interviews, close to settling on short list

The first round of the Vancouver Canucks’ search for a general manager is moving quickly; the short list is expected to be finalized over the next 48 hours, a team source told The Athletic this weekend.The Athletic reported last week that Vancouver requested and was granted permission to interview former Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams; Sportsnet reported that Shane Doan had been granted permission by the Toronto Maple Leafs; former high-scoring NHL winger and NHL Department of Player Safety executive Ray Whitney has also been part of this process, as first reported by TNT’s Paul Bissonnette; Edmonton Oilers assistant general manager Bill Scott interviewed as well, according to 100% Hockey’s John Shannon.And those names are just the tip of the iceberg.To this point, 15-20 league executives have taken part in video calls with Canucks brass.Advertisement
