Alai Ahio, 28, was at a home on Arbutus Street in Canley Heights with four other men when they were ambushed by at least two attackers armed with guns and knives on Tuesday night. The attackers fled the scene in a white SUV. Ahio was driven to Liverpool Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds shortly before 8.30pm, where he died a short time later. A second man, 32, was taken to the same hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition. A short time later, two other men – aged 23 and 22 - also presented to nearby Fairfield Hospital in serious conditions. They were later transferred to different hospitals for further treatment. Less than 90 minutes later, a fifth man, 19, presented at Liverpool Hospital with arm injuries. he remains in a stable condition. Police are now investigating whether the attack on Ahio is linked to the Coconut Cartel, a gang that has fuelled Sydney’s latest underworld feud.
