Owens, 37, a supporter-turned-critic of President Donald Trump, spoke on a panel at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum – nicknamed the Russian Davos – on Thursday morning. News of Owens' trip provided new ammunition for Loomer, 33, who first revealed details of her panel appearance and berated the podcaster online for standing side-by-side with what she described as Russian state-funded media and propaganda figures in the country. Loomer, a self-described journalist and ally of President Trump, is known for her fierce personal takedowns, incendiary anti-Islam and anti-immigrant posts and investigations into individuals and groups she deems corrupt. In recent days, she has been feasting on details about Owens' trip to Russia, posting brutal attacks about Owens' physical appearance and openly accusing her of teaming up with the United States' enemies to star in a propaganda effort to destroy America. Loomer called for the Department of Homeland Security to detain Owens when she returned from Russia, adding that Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche should 'investigate' her family for possible connections to the Kremlin. The State Department advises Americans not to travel to Russia, citing concerns of 'terrorism, unrest and wrongful detention,' and warns that the embassy in Moscow has limited resources to help citizens if they run into problems. In her latest personal attack on Owens, Loomer also questioned the safety of traveling to Russia in the middle of its war with Ukraine. 'What kind of mom takes your child to a war zone?' As a self-admitted former cocaine abuser, it is apparent that Laura [REDACTED]... Journalists should not encourage her and should instead help her seek and receive medical attention.' Relations between the two women were not always this volatile. Like many of the ugliest feuds in history, the two figures were once ideologically aligned. Loomer told the Daily Mail they were once 'friends', but described Owens now as 'a totally different person.' Loomer lived in New York working for Project Veritas while Owens was living in Connecticut, and the two of them spent time together socially. 'She was normal. I would hang out with her and her boyfriend at the time and we would go to events. I slept over at her house, and we used to go shopping together,' she said. 'I literally have slept in the same bed with her after we hung out and had like a fun night,' Loomer said. They even spent time in Israel together in 2018 as Owens was present at an event celebrating President Trump's decision to move the United States embassy to Jerusalem. 'I was friendly with her, never had an issue with her,' Owens said during a podcast discussion about Loomer, adding that she 'felt very sad for her.' According to Owens, Loomer reached out to her to ask her to drive her home from an appointment when she had her wisdom teeth removed. Loomer confirmed that Owens assisted her in transportation for the surgery. But when Owens began drifting away from her support for Trump, Loomer grew increasingly agitated. Loomer recalled that she first criticized Owens for touring Iowa with then-2024 Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, viewing her trip as extremely disloyal. 'She really owes her career to President Trump,' Loomer told the Daily Mail. The feud ramped up in earnest in early 2025, after Owens became highly critical of Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu and the military operations in the Middle East. Their political differences have turned Owens into Loomer's number one target and the attacks have grown more personal. Both are accusing each other of being 'grifters' who are misleading their followers for money and to fund their lavish lifestyles and receiving foreign funds to shape their views. Loomer, who has been accused of racism and sexism over a number of online statements, has described Owens as 'a nappy-headed black b****', while Owens has described Loomer as 'Sawface.' Both have accused each other of doxxing their locations, putting the other in physical danger. 'Candace was not paid and has not been paid by Russia,' a spokesperson for Owens told the Daily Mail. 'This is woefully uneducated,' Owens told the Daily Mail in response to Loomer's accusations. 'We are on family vacation with our children in Russia and are very excited we can make it work while we're here.' Owens and her husband have four children together between the ages of one and five-years-old. Loomer told the Daily Mail she personally flagged her concerns with Owens' travel to the Department of Justice and the Treasury Department. 'I know that the White House is certainly aware of it,' she said. Owens, however, has become a pariah in Washington, other sources agree, as she has been ostracized for her views opposing Israel and turning on Trump. While Loomer would like to think she is the ultimate Trump loyalist, some in the Trump administration are not pleased with her criticism of the president's efforts to reach a peace deal to end the war in Iran. Loomer told the Daily Mail that President Trump should be less eager to negotiate with Iran. 'I support the president, and I completely respect President Trump, but I don't agree that you can negotiate with Islamic terrorists,' she said. 'I think the only way to deal with Islamic terrorism and Islamic terrorist regimes is to slaughter them the way they slaughter all non-Muslims.' Owens surprised her audience last week with the announcement that she would be off the air for a week in June for a family trip to St Petersburg, where she planned to visit churches, while her husband, George Farmer, would enjoy fishing. Putin himself is expected to attend the forum, along with prominent figures in Russia, including his right-hand aide, political philosopher Alexander Dugin, who has been described as 'Putin's brain.' Owens admitted on her podcast that she might even meet with Dugin, but in a post on Thursday denied having met him during her trip. Her appearance at the conference, she said, was 'to participate on a panel discussing the importance of big families.' 'Hopefully I didn't disappoint, given the hysterical western media cycle which, rather hilariously, imagined me in the throes of some inexplicable plot with Alexander Dugin (who I have yet to so much as even meet),' she wrote on X. While many American business interests and political figures have attended the conference in the past, it has since been boycotted by prominent Europeans and Americans after Putin annexed Crimea and launched a war in Ukraine. This year, President Trump's Chairman of the US Commission of Fine Arts, Rodney Mims Cook Jr, attended the event, which Owens told the Daily Mail was 'notable.' Owens, who has over seven million followers on X and over six million subscribers to her YouTube channel, continues to enjoy enormous influence despite her changing views on politics and international affairs.  Although she has not published any podcasts from Russia, she responded to Loomer and other critics by publicly sharing additional photos of her and her husband visiting the Kremlin, Russian churches and a performance of the musical Cinderella at the Russian ballet. She described Moscow as an unbelievably beautiful city.' 'Moscow is a magnificent city. It is not a matter of debate. I erred in not staying longer, but I will return,' she wrote. At her forum appearance, Owens spoke glowingly about Russia and her vacation. 'I really enjoyed this journey,' she said. 'I really want to go back to my podcast and tell Americans about this.'
