Rafael Camara beat championship rival Alexander Dunne to pole position in a closely contested Silverstone qualifying. With his final lap of the day, the Scuderia Driver Academy member went fastest for the first time in the session on a 1:39.690. Rodin Motorsport driver Dunne – who had been quickest in Free Practice and after the first set of laps in qualifying – crossed the line moments later, but his lap was only good enough for P2. This gave Invicta Racing’s Camara his third pole position of the season, while Dunne is set to start from P2 for the third consecutive Feature Race. Dunne’s fellow Alpine Academy member Kush Maini was third for ART Grand Prix, ahead of DAMS Lucas Oil driver Roman Bilinski. Campos Racing’s Nikola Tsolov finished fifth, ahead of the second ART car in the top six belonging to Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak. Invicta’s Joshua Duerksen was seventh, followed by Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagómez, Hitech driver Ritomo Miyata, as championship leader Gabriele Minì completed the top 10. Minì is set to start from reverse grid pole for MP Motorsport in Saturday’s Sprint Race, with lights out currently scheduled for 13:15 local time.
