The Portuguese captain has just a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and has regularly been linked with an exit.‌Fernandes has admirers in Saudi Arabia, with the Red Devils previously willing to cash in on his services. He was eventually convinced to stay at the club and it appears that an exit is not on the cards this time around.‌According to The Sun, club chiefs have told Fernandes that they do not want him to depart under any circumstances. They have told the 31-year-old that they want him to be the centre of a successful United side and believe that a place in the Champions League would go a long way in convincing him to stay.‌Fernandes’ current deal has a €65million (£56.5m) release clause written into it that can be activated by an overseas club.
