The UK is preparing for its third heatwave of the summer with temperatures expected to reach 35C.

The Met Office has issued yellow heat health alerts for multiple regions due to the rising temperatures.

Meanwhile, Scotland faces heavy rain as weather fronts move into the area, contrasting the heat in England.

Published: 22:51, 5 July 2026 | Updated: 22:56, 5 July 2026 Britain is bracing for its third heatwave of the summer to strike as the Met Office confirms temperatures are set to escalate to a scorching 35C this week.  The weather agency has warned high pressure from Monday will 'dominate' the south of England for the next five days, bringing 'increasingly hot and sunny weather'.   Temperatures will rise above 30C in the South on Tuesday and Wednesday, before an 'intense heat' of up to 35C will be experienced across southern England by Thursday.  The rising temperatures follow last month's scorching heatwave, when a record temperature for June of 37.7C was set in Lingwood in Norfolk on Friday, June 26.  That came after May's record heatwave when a scorching 35.1C was reached in Kew, London, smashing the previous peak of 32.8C set in 1922. On Monday, temperatures will swell to 33C in London, before dropping slightly to 31C on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the nation's capital will return to 33C - before a sweltering 35C will sweep across the city by Thursday.  A similar story can be seen in Cambridge, where a whopping 34C is expected on Thursday.  The Met Office has warned high pressure from Monday will 'dominate' the south of England for the next five days (Pictured: Sunbathers in Weymouth in Dorset) Temperatures will rise above 30C in the South on Tuesday and Wednesday, before an 'intense heat' of up to 35C will be experienced across southern England by Thursday (Pictured: Durdle Door beach, east of Weymouth) Temperatures will soar above 30C into next week On the same day, temperatures are also set to soar to 33C in Birmingham, while Manchester's temperatures will climb to 29C. By Friday, the Met Office said, a 'refreshing breeze' will thankfully roll across the eastern coast, as temperatures begin to dip slightly to the early-thirties and late-twenties across the country.  The UK Health Security Agency has put in place yellow heat health alerts for the East Midlands, West Midlands, east of England, London, south-east England and south-west of England from Saturday, July 4, until Saturday, July 11. They warn of an increased risk to health, particularly for vulnerable people. Yet despite the intense heat in England, it is not set to stretch to neighbouring Scotland - where the Met Office have issued two yellow weather warnings for rain in the Highlands.  In Fort William, Portree and Tobermory, 'persistent and heavy' rain is expected on Sunday, which will continue into Monday.  The showers, according to the agency, come as weather fronts will move around the high pressure system - pushing the showers into western Scotland by the beginning of the week. The downpours, it said, are expected to be 'heavy at first' before gradually easing. London will reach a sweltering 35C by Thursday (Pictured: Sunseekers at Hampstead Heath) A yellow heat health alert has been issued by the UKHSA from Saturday, July 4 until Saturday, July 11 On Tuesday, rain will continue to push across Scotland, but by Wednesday the Met Office predict brighter conditions in northern regions. England's third heatwave comes in light of a series of drownings across the last two months, as more folks took to water to cool off.  On Saturday, emergency services rushed to Watermead Country Park in Leicestershire after reports that a body of a man had been spotted in the water.  Officers from Leicestershire Police attended the scene alongside paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service after receiving a call at approximately 2.28pm.  A short time later, the man's body was recovered from the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  An investigation into his death has since been launched by police, who say the circumstances surrounding the tragedy are currently 'unexplained'.  It follows a total of six deaths by drowning reported in June.  Last Saturday, the body of 55-year-old woman was recovered from Swan Pool in Sandwell Valley Country Park, near Birmingham, after she went missing in the water. Watermead Country Park in Leicestershire, where the body of a man was recovered on Saturday On the same day, the body of 22-year-old Brody Leach was recovered from the River Severn in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, where he was last seen alive swimming in the river the previous afternoon.  Also on Saturday, officers searching for a missing 15-year-old boy last seen in the water at Testwood Lakes near Southampton found a body. 'The boy's family have been informed and formal identification has taken place. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers,' Hampshire Police said. The death of a 69-year-old man in Clacton-on-Sea was also confirmed by Essex Police last month.  Officers said they were called to a medical emergency in Marine Parade East following reports of a man in difficulty in the sea.  And at Aberavon beach on the south coast of Wales, a 50-year-old also passed away, while the body of a 13-year-old boy was recovered from a lake in Syston, Leicestershire, after he went into the water.
