By OLIVIA ALLHUSEN, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER Published: 12:55, 3 July 2026 | Updated: 12:55, 3 July 2026 A British teenager is fighting for his life after plunging from a hotel balcony in Athens. The 17-year-old fell from the first floor of a hotel in the party district of Chalandri during the early hours of Friday. Emergency services rushed to the scene before taking him to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition after suffering multiple injuries. A local supermarket owner has been arrested for allegedly selling the teenager alcohol before the fall. Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. 'It's too early to say exactly what happened,' an investigator told The Sun. 'What we do know is that he fell from the first floor of the hotel and that alcohol had been consumed.' Emergency services arrived at the scene in the northern suburb of Chalandri within minutes and the teen was rushed to hospital. A source described the teenager's condition as 'touch and go'. 'He has multiple wounds, some internal, and has been put on life support in the intensive care ward,' they said. 'It's touch and go and we are all praying he will pull through.' There has been no further update on his condition. It comes just days after another Brit was left fighting for her life in hospital after she was hit by a rock which fell from a famous waterfall in Greece. The woman, 50, was hit on the head at the Nydri waterfalls in Lefkada, Greece, where a fragment of rock came loose and broke off which caused the severe injury. She was rescued by firefighters who raced to the steep, rocky cliff and carried her to safety on an orange stretcher. The woman was then rushed to hospital for surgery and also had a breathing tube fitted, according to local reports. The holidaymaker is reportedly in critical condition and is set to be transferred to a specialised trauma centre in Athens. Several other tourists at the iconic spot sustained minor injuries from smaller stones that hit them. It remains unknown whether the incident was as a result of a natural collapse or if warning signs had been ignored. Nydri Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in Greece. It is an estimated 39ft tall and known for its lush surroundings and canyon lagoon. The popular beauty spot attracts thousands of visitors every summer. It is reached by taking a short but difficult hiking trail through a narrow gorge, characterised by rugged and uneven pathways.  No comments have so far been submitted.
