‘Britain doesn’t exist anymore!’ Jess Gill speaks out after only 6% say they would fight to protect the UK

Jess Gill, the Founder and Director of the Women's Safety Initiative, has explained why she believes only six per cent of Britons have said they would be willing to fight to protect the UK from invasion.

Speaking on GB News, she clashed with former Tory MP and Army officer James Sunderland on what the stark figures mean for the nation.

Fresh data from YouGov showed that only a tiny fraction of the public would be willing to fight for their country against a threat of imminent invasion.

Another 17 per cent of respondents admitted they would outright refuse any instruction to defend their own country - even in the face of a direct threat to their homeland.

Ms Gill revealed she would be similarly unwilling to serve and argued that many people no longer feel connected to the nation they would be expected to defend.

“Honestly, I don't think I would at this rate because... what are we actually fighting for?

“The concept of Britain, I don't think exists anymore."

She explained that the “core demographic of the people who would normally fight, white working class boys” had been “demonised for decades and decades by the Government, by our education system, by the media”.

Ms Gill therefore questioned why they would “risk their lives when we've demonised them for so long and took them for granted for so long”.

The campaigner also accused successive governments of “betraying the public” over issues like the grooming gangs scandal, mass migration and terror attacks.

Her comments were challenged by former James Sunderland, who rejected her argument as “complete nonsense”. The former officer said his military service had shown him “People from all walks of life” united by “a common shared wish to serve the country”.

“I look back on how proud we should be of our nation, how proud we should be of our flag, how proud we should be of our people.”
