A Brit tourist has been rushed to hospital after he was spotted floating unconscious in the sea at a Majorcan holiday resort. Lifeguards brought the 47-year-old out of the water in Santa Ponsa near Magaluf just after midday yesterday after he reportedly went into cardiac arrest. Off-duty firefighters helped the first responders revive him after they discovered he had no pulse with paramedics then arriving at the scene. Medics were able to stabilise the man at the scene before he was rushed to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma in an ambulance. Well-placed sources confirmed the man held a British passport and he had been born in Pakistan. The drama unfolded just after 12.30pm yesterday. Lifeguards in a watch tower on the beach spotted the man motionless in the water, with one racing into the sea to bring him out with the help of other tourists and locals. Emergency crews worked for around 20 on the sand to save the man’s life. Pictures from the scene showed around half a dozen police officers on the beach behind a makeshift barrier they had erected using sun loungers around paramedics working on stabilising the Brit. Rescue crews stretchered the man away as holidaymakers in their swimwear looked on in horror where moments before the crowds had been enjoying blue skies and high temperatures at the popular beach spot. Two ambulances had parked at the back of the beach after being mobilised by 999 operators. It is not yet clear whether the man rushed to hospital had been on his own or with family or friends and why he got into difficulty in the water. This is a Breaking News story.
