Skubala, named League One Manager of the Year at the League Managers' Association awards on Tuesday, has since signed a new deal at Sincil Bank after Bristol City triggered his previous release clause. Portsmouth boss John Mousinho was also a contender but the Robins opted for former Aston Villa defender Elphick, who has held a coaching role at the Cherries since 2021 having played 145 times for the club.Bristol City had been looking for a successor to Roy Hodgson following the former England manager's interim spell after he replaced Gerhard Struber in March. Hodgson took them to 12th in the Championship, where they finished 11 points off the top six.
