By MATT JONES, SENIOR NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 06:25, 4 June 2026 | Updated: 06:25, 4 June 2026 A young Aussie couple claim their neighbour sent them an angry letter threatening to report them to the RSPCA just 24 hours after they moved in.  Ben and Jas received anything but a warm welcome when they moved from the Sunshine Coast to a new home in Brisbane.  They received an anonymous letter accusing them of neglecting their dogs. 'We've been in our house for a week and we already have beef with our neighbours, Jas said in a TikTok video. The author accused the couple of keeping their dogs on the balcony 'for prolonged periods of time' and claimed surrounding neighbours were worried about the noise.  They threatened to report the couple to the RSPCA and Brisbane City Council if the issue was not rectified within seven days. The couple have rubbished the author's claims. 'For context… the dogs were on the balcony because we have no fence in our house yet,' Jas said. Queensland couple Jas and Ben (pictured) read out the letter they received from a neighbour just a day after they moved in to their new place in Brisbane 'The only time they were on the balcony was when there were electricians doing electricity work on our house so having the dogs inside wasn't safe. 'The prolonged period of time, by the way, was maybe an hour.  'The only time that they were barking was when we had tradespeople inside and outside the house.' Ben dared the 'Karen' to take their issue to the authorities.  'Give us at least a week of continuous behaviour before you put a letter in our mailbox,' Jas agreed.  Aussies were quick to criticise the author in the comments.  'You shouldn't have to explain yourself. They're your dogs. Mine bark when they're outside. They're literally dogs,' one wrote. 'Totally understand from your perspective. The neighbours should have come over and introduced themselves and discussed any concerns,' another said. 'Sending a letter to someone after just 24 hours of seeing what's going on is insane,' a third person agreed.  No comments have so far been submitted.
