Boy, seven, is lanced through the stomach by javelin thrown by top young athlete leaving him seriously injured in France

By PERKIN AMALARAJ, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER Published: 16:45, 23 July 2026 | Updated: 16:50, 23 July 2026 A seven-year-old boy has been lanced through the stomach by a javelin thrown by a top youth athlete, leaving him seriously injured.  The athlete, whose identity has not been disclosed, was training for the French Championships at the Jean Vaillant sports complex in Lannion, northwest France, when the incident happened.  The young boy, who was playing football with his friends at the time, did not notice the cones marking the throwing area and went to retrieve the ball from the demarcated zone.  As the boy went into the area, the javelin pierced his stomach. Almost immediately, he was airlifted to the nearby Morvan Hospital in Brest.  The boy went through four surgeries to help him recover from his injuries.  Thankfully, he is now in a stable condition, local media reported.  Éric Robert, the town's mayor, admitted that the demarcation was not obvious enough and that he wanted to discuss a new signage system for the local sports association.
