Boy, 16, is arrested on suspicion of murder after woman in her 60s is found dead at home

Police were called to Ivylea Road in Burnage, south Manchester this morning following reports of an assault. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and a murder investigation was launched by detectives. A police car could be seen along the residential street this evening, with witnesses describing a major emergency service presence at a house throughout the day. The teenager remains in custody to be questioned. Greater Manchester Police said: 'Officers responded to reports of an assault at an address on Ivylea Road, Burnage at around 8am today. 'One woman aged in her 60s sadly died at the scene and a boy, aged 16, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.' Burnage lies four miles south of Manchester city centre and is a mainly residential area with mostly semi-detached houses.
