Boy, 13, arrested after pack of dogs chased off stranger who allegedly tried to sexually assault two women

By KYLIE STEVENS, SENIOR BREAKING NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 00:09, 21 August 2026 | Updated: 00:09, 21 August 2026 A 13-year-old boy has been arrested five weeks after the alleged attempted sexual assault of two women who were walking their dogs in broad daylight in Melbourne.  The women were near Gardiners Creek in Kooyong on July 14 when they were ambushed by a stranger, who leapt from bushes and grabbed one of them. After the woman broke free, the male allegedly approached the second woman, who also managed to fight him off. Extraordinary footage showed the women's dogs turning on the alleged attacker, forcing him to flee into a tunnel beneath the Monash Freeway. The clip showed six dogs of various breeds and sizes barking furiously as they chased the young male through the park. A blue heeler leapt up and latched onto the male's leg, ripping his pants. Detectives from the Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team spent five weeks pursuing multiple lines of inquiry, including tip-offs provided by members of the public. Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Boroondara on Thursday morning, where a 13-year-old boy was arrested and taken into custody.
