The terrifying incident happened at around 9.15am on Friday near the Mud Volcano area, just north of Fishing Bridge, according to park officials. Emergency medical personnel transported the child to a nearby hospital following the attack.  Yellowstone National Park has not revealed the extent of the boy's injuries. Officials have not released any further details about what led to the encounter, and the incident remains under investigation. Following the attack, park authorities reminded visitors that Yellowstone's wildlife can be dangerous and may become aggressive if people fail to keep a safe distance. A spokesperson said: 'Bison have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal. They are unpredictable, can run three times faster than humans and will defend their space when threatened.' Park officials also urged visitors to stay at least 25 yards away from all large animals, including bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose and coyotes, and at least 100 yards away from bears, wolves and cougars. Never approach, touch, feed or crowd wildlife, even if an animal appears calm.' This is the latest incident in a series of bison attacks at Yellowstone, reports ABC News Park officials said there were two reported cases of people being injured by bison in 2024 and one in 2023, with all three incidents involving visitors getting too close to the animals. In one incident last year, a 30-year-old man from Randolph, New Jersey, was gored after approaching a bison as part of a large group of visitors. He was treated for minor injuries following the attack. Just a month earlier, a 47-year-old visitor from Cape Coral, Florida, also suffered minor injuries after being gored by a bison in the park's Lake Village area.
