Küresel Sumud Filosu'nun Gazze'deki ablukayı kırmak için yola çıktığı vurgulanan açıklamada, çok ihtiyaç duyulan insani yardımı ulaştırmak isteyen sivillere yönelik İsrail saldırıları kınandı. Açıklamada, "Uluslararası sularda yasa dışı olarak gözaltına alınan Küresel Sumud Filosu aktivistlerinin acilen serbest bırakılmasını talep ediyoruz. Uluslararası sularda yakalanmaları ve bu aktivistlere yönelik bildirilen ağır kötü muamele konusunda ciddi endişe duyuyoruz." denildi. Filistin halkına hayat kurtarıcı malzemeler ulaştırmak için barışçıl ve tamamen insani bir görevde bulunan sivil bir filoya yönelik saldırının, İsrail'in Gazze nüfusunu her türlü yolla bitirme yönündeki soykırım politikasını sürdürmeye kararlı olduğunun bir başka kanıtı olduğu kaydedilen açıklamada, bu eylemlerin, BM Deniz Hukuku Sözleşmesi dahil uluslararası hukukun açık bir ihlali olduğu kaydedildi. Açıklamada, "Filo arama ve kurtarma bölgesinde olmasına rağmen Yunan sahil güvenlik ekipleri, filo mürettebatının tekrarlanan yardım taleplerine yanıt vermedi ve İsrail güçlerinin müdahalesine izin verdi. İsrail'in bu eylemleri bu kadar kolaylıkla gerçekleştirmesi, Avrupa hükümetlerinin olası suç ortaklığı konusunda endişe oluşturuyor." ifadeleri yer aldı. Aktivistlerin gözaltına alınmalarının, hem yakalanma koşulları hem de haklarında getirilen suçlamalar açısından hukuka aykırı olduğu belirtilen açıklamada, keyfi olarak gözaltına alınan herkesin derhal serbest bırakılması istendi. İsrail'in, Küresel Sumud Filosu'ndan alıkoyduktan sonra serbest bırakmadığı ve zorla ülkeye götürdüğü Seyf Ebu Kişk ve Thiago Avila'nın yoğun fiziki işkence gördüğü duyurulmuştu. BM özel raportörleri, "İnsan Hakları Konseyinin özel mekanizmaları" diye tanınan sürecin parçası olarak biliniyor.
