Bizarre statue of Anthony Albanese and Donald Trump suddenly emerges in an Aussie city sparking police investigation: 'May I lick your boots?'

By KYLIE STEVENS, SENIOR BREAKING NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 03:34, 3 July 2026 | Updated: 03:34, 3 July 2026 Authorities have scrambled to remove a lewd sculpture depicting Donald Trump appearing to urinate on Anthony Albanese after it was erected outside a Melbourne landmark.  Early morning commuters were stunned by a new installation that mysteriously appeared overnight in Gordon Reserve opposite Victoria's Parliament House on Friday. The statue showed the US President standing over the Australian Prime Minister, while a fountain feature sprayed water from Trump's waist towards a kneeling Albanese. Art activist group The New Radicals claimed responsibility for the statue, which is called The Golden Opportunity. 'May I lick your boots, boss?' a plaque on the monument was captioned. 'The Prime Minister gargled as the President p***ed in his mouth.'  City of Melbourne rangers spent the morning dismantling the 'unauthorised installation'. 'Council officers immediately attended the scene to remove the installation,' a spokeswoman told the Daily Mail. Police confirmed to the Daily Mail that they have launched an investigation after a statue was erected in a Melbourne CBD park on Friday. 'Investigators believe the statue was erected on its own improvised plinth in parkland along Spring Street about 7am,' a statement said. 'Officers responded promptly to reports of the incident and, with assistance from local council, the statue and plinth were dismantled.  'Investigators are working to determine if there are any criminal offences related to the incident.' Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam or CCTV footage or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. The Daily Mail contacted The New Radicals and the Prime Minister's Office for comment.  Many Australians on social media were amused by the stunt. The statue showed Donald Trump appearing to stand over Anthony Albanese. Pictured are the two leaders together 'Wow, this is hilarious!' one woman commented, while another said it was 'gold'.  Others said they were disappointed to learn the statue would not remain there.  It is not the first time The New Radicals have sparked controversy with their provocative public art stunts targeting politicians. Previous stunts included an explicit statue outside the Geelong electorate office of Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, which dubbed him 'Australia's biggest brown-noser'. Another installation outside Marles' office in December 2024 saw a submarine named 'HMAS Richard' in reference to the AUKUS submarine deal with the US and UK. The activist group also erected a 'S*** Premier Safe Disposal Bin' outside Victoria's Premier Jacinta Allan's office in Bendigo last year in response to the state government's machete disposal bins set up to crack down on escalating crime.
