BIM Nears 1,000 Stores in Morocco Following Record Expansion in 2025

Rabat — Turkish discount retail giant BIM is rapidly expanding its presence in Morocco, edging closer to the symbolic milestone of 1,000 stores. The chain opened 144 new outlets — a record for the Moroccan market — in 2025, bringing its total network to 933 stores across the country.

This surge affirms Morocco’s central role in BIM’s international growth strategy outside Turkey. First to introduce the hard-discount model in the kingdom, BIM Morocco has become a key player in a market increasingly competitive with entries such as the Egyptian chain Kazyon and the Moroccan Supeco, part of the Label Vie Group.

The Moroccan subsidiary’s performance stands in contrast to BIM’s operations in Egypt, where 2025 saw a more modest expansion of just 27 new stores, bringing the total to 445. In Morocco, near 18% organic growth reflects a mature logistics network, dense urban presence, and the ability to reach a rapidly growing urban population, making it the crown jewel of BIM’s international portfolio.

BIM Maroc is 65% owned by the Turkish parent group and 35% by Helios Investment Partners, which joined the capital in 2021 to support expansion, operational development, and local integration. The company now operates four logistics centers in Morocco and employs approximately 7,100 people, representing 7% of BIM’s global workforce of 101,663.

BIM manages 14,473 stores worldwide, including more than 13,000 in Turkey. Yet Morocco’s growth remains the most striking. The company’s model—focused on low-cost stores in suburban areas, a streamlined assortment of around 1,000 SKUs with 55% private labels, and high stock turnover—is designed to pass efficiency gains to consumers and has resonated with Moroccans facing inflationary pressures.

BIM Maroc is on track to surpass the 1,000-store mark in the first half of 2026, a milestone that coincides with the Group’s 30th anniversary and reflects a sustained, profitable international growth strategy.

Beyond commercial expansion, BIM Maroc is increasingly embedding sustainability and governance practices into its operations. In 2025, the chain established a dedicated ESG structure covering customer experience, supply chain management, employee welfare, and health and safety, aligning growth with environmental and social responsibility while maintaining modest impacts relative to the Group’s global operations.

With its record expansion, robust logistics, and growing ESG framework, BIM is solidifying its position as a dominant force in Morocco’s retail sector and a model for sustainable international growth.
