'Best day of his career!': Met Police officer's lucky day as he is allowed to drive limited edition Ferrari Monza SP2 - which sell for £3.7MILLION - after it was seized by cops

The policeman donned his shades and channelled his inner James Bond as he got behind the wheel of the Ferrari Monza SP2. The flash convertible is one of only 499 ever made since they were unveiled by the luxury manufacturer in 2018. While the cars originally sold for just over $1million, their rarity has led to a surge in their potential value second-hand, with one selling for just under $5million (£3.7million) this year. The car was reportedly one of a number which were seized at a supercar meetup at Wellington Arch by Hyde Park Corner on Saturday. Video footage showed the moment the Ferrari was driven around the streets of Mayfair by an officer, surrounded by a police escort. One joked: 'This must be the only time a seized car has actually been driven to the depot rather than towed.' Another wrote: 'Rock paper scissors who gets to drive it.' Last year more than 70 supercars worth £7million were seized by police officers across London in just one weekend. The police haul included a pair of purple Lamborghinis, alongside Ferraris and Porsches.  Images showed an array of flash sports cars confiscated across Hyde Park, Kensington and Chelsea, with the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) working alongside officers to impound the extravagant vehicles. The crackdown by Scotland Yard followed reports of anti-social and dangerous driving, alongside drivers being a 'nuisance' across hotspot areas of London. One of the drivers of the two purple Lamborghinis had been in the country for just two hours and driving for 15 minutes when the luxury car was seized, the MIB said.  Up to 75 Met police officers worked to seize the uninsured vehicles, using specialist methods such as ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), predictive movement tracking and vehicle markers. Some drivers were also found to have been on the roads without a valid licence, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt and having illegally tinted windows.
