Avrupa kupasını kazandırmaya çalışacak. Başantrenör Dusan Alimpijevic'in öğrencileri, Beşiktaş camiasına da 13 sezon sonra ilk kupayı hediye etmek istiyor. Türkiye, kadınlar ve erkeklerde daha önce Avrupa kupalarında 19 kez kupa sevinci yaşadı. Basketbolda daha önce erkeklerde Anadolu Efes 3, Fenerbahçe 2, Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, Darüşşafaka ve Bahçeşehir Koleji 1'er kez, kadınlarda ise Fenerbahçe 5, Galatasaray 3, ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin, Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi de 1 defa Avrupa kupalarında şampiyonluk yaşadı. Erkeklerde Avrupa Ligi'ni Anadolu Efes ve Fenerbahçe Beko 2'şer kez kazandı. Galatasaray ve Darüşşafaka BKT Avrupa Kupası'nı, Bahçeşehir Koleji FIBA Avrupa Kupası'nı, Beşiktaş ise FIBA EuroChallenge Kupası'nı birer kez kazanma başarısı gösterdi. O zamanki adıyla Efes Pilsen de 1996'da Koraç Kupası'nı alarak Türkiye'ye ilk Avrupa zaferini getirdi. Kadınlarda ise Fenerbahçe 3, Galatasaray 1 defa Avrupa Ligi zaferi yaşadı. Galatasaray ayrıca 2 kez, Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi ve ÇİMSA ÇBK Mersin ise 1'er defa FIBA Avrupa Kupası'nı Türkiye'ye hediye etti. Fenerbahçe Kadın Takımı, ayrıca 2 kez Süper Kupa'yı da kazanarak Türk takımlarının Avrupa'daki kupa sayısını 19'a çıkardı. Beşiktaş GAİN, 2011-2012 sezonunda elde ettiği FIBA EuroChallenge Kupası'nın ardından Avrupa'da ikinci kez kupaya çok yakın. Siyah-beyazlılar, Fransız ekibi Cosea JL Bourg karşısında seriyi kazanması durumunda mutlu sona ulaşacak. Türk basketbolu, ilk Avrupa zaferini 1996'da Anadolu Efes ile yaşadı. Başantrenör Aydın Örs yönetiminde o zamanki adı Efes Pilsen olan lacivert-beyazlılar, Makedon oyuncusu Petar Naumoski'nin önderliğinde büyük bir başarıya imza attı. Anadolu Efes, 1995-1996 sezonunda Avrupa'nın iki numaralı kupası olan Koraç Kupası finalinde İtalya ekibi Stefanel Milano'yu geçerek, Türk basketbol tarihinin ilk büyük başarısını elde etti. Türk takımları bu sezon iki Avrupa kupasını daha Türkiye'ye getirdi. FIBA Kadınlar Avrupa Kupası finalinde deplasmanda 85-80 kazandığı maçın rövanşında Athinaikos Qualco'ya 77-75 yenilmesine rağmen şampiyon olan Çimsa ÇBK Mersin, Türkiye'ye bu sezonki ilk Avrupa zaferini yaşattı. İki Türk temsilcisi Fenerbahçe Opet ve Galatasaray Çağdaş Faktoring, FIBA Kadınlar Avrupa Ligi finalinde karşı karşıya geldi. İspanya'da oynanan final maçını 68-55 kazanan Fenerbahçe Opet, organizasyonu 3. kez kazanmayı başardı.
