Birçok iş planı ve fırsatı olan girişimcilerle dolu bir odada bulunduklarını vurgulayan Francken, bugün yapılması gereken en önemli şeyin ağ kurmak olduğunu söyledi. Francken, dış ticarette, kendisi için en önemli şeyin "bağlantılar ve sözleşmeler" olduğunu ve söz konusu bağlantıların bugün burada bulunduğunu dile getirdi. Francken, üç yıl önce NATO Parlamenter Asamblesi (PA) ile birlikte Baykar'ı ziyaret ettiğini hatırlatarak, şunları kaydetti: "Baykar'da gördüklerim, tüm o yetkinlikler, yeni teknolojiler, inovasyon, AR-GE çalışmaları, azim ve büyüme benim için akıl almazdı. Belçika'ya dönerken meslektaşlarıma şöyle dedim; 'Geçen hafta gördüklerim gerçekten etkileyiciydi. Türkiye bizden çok ileride, çok önde ve biz de hızlanmalıyız. Biz de ordumuzu, silahlı kuvvetlerimizi modernize etmeli ve daha insansız yeteneklere, inovasyona, silahlı kuvvetlerimizin adaptasyonuna doğru bir değişim yapmalıyız. Burada yaptıkları bu. Bizim de yapmamız gereken bu.'" Bu nedenle Savunma Bakanı olduğu dönemde ilk yaptığı şeyin dünyanın ilk "dron generalini" atamak olduğunu anlatan Francken, "Belçika, silahlı kuvvetlerimizi savunma konusunda güçlendiriyor. Bütçemizi yüzde 60 artırıyoruz. Tüm NATO müttefikleri arasında en büyük artışı biz gerçekleştiriyoruz. Ve gelecekte daha da fazlasını yapacağız." diye konuştu. Francken, birçok fırsatın bulunduğunu ve bunları bugün değerlendirmeye başlamayı umduklarını vurguladı. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Savunma Sanayii Başkanı Haluk Görgün de burada yaptığı konuşmada, iki ülkenin savunma sanayileri ile güçleri ve yetenekleri arasında başlayan dostluğun önemine dikkati çekti. Görgün, bu işbirliğinin hem ülkelerin kendi ihtiyaçları hem müttefikler hem de mümkün olduğunca üçüncü pazarlar için bir araya getirilebileceğini anlattı. Konunun ilk olarak her iki tarafın da yer aldığı bir NATO Zirvesi'nde görüşüldüğünü aktaran Görgün, burada karşılıklı fikir alışverişinde bulunulduğuna işaret etti. Görgün, Belçika Savunma Bakanı Francken'in IDEF Uluslararası Savunma Sanayii Fuarı'nı ziyaret ettiğini hatırlattı. Francken'in temaslarını sadece fuarla sınırlı tutmayarak Ankara'ya geldiğinin ve savunma sanayisi şirketlerini de incelediğinin altını çizen Görgün, "Elbette, majestelerinin ve Belçika'dan gelen bu büyük heyetin ziyareti, aslında savunma sanayimiz için tarihi bir ziyarettir. Her iki tarafın da bu ziyarete katkı sağlayacağına ve iki ülke arasındaki ilişkileri bir sonraki seviyeye taşıyacağına inanıyoruz." ifadelerini kullandı. Ankara'da temaslarda bulunan şirketlerin ve iş insanlarının ilgili ve yüksek motivasyona sahip olduğunu vurgulayan Görgün, şöyle devam etti: "Üstelik sadece 7-8 sözleşmeyle de sınırlı değiliz; platform seviyesinden sistem ve alt sistem seviyesine kadar her düzeyde işbirliğine açığız. Türkiye'de savunma sanayisi için çalışan 4 binden fazla şirketimiz bulunuyor. Bu sebeple her alanda pek çok çözüme sahibiz. Benzer şekilde, Brüksel'in de çok güçlü bir kabiliyeti var. Eminim ki bu ziyaret sayesinde, NATO Zirvesi ve Savunma Sanayii Forumu öncesinde resmileştirip duyuracağımız daha pek çok yeni gelişmemiz olacak." Görgün, konuk bakanlara ve beraberindeki heyete teşekkür ederek, Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı (SSB) olarak sonuçları görmeyi, analiz etmeyi ve en büyük katkıyı sağlamayı umut ettiklerini sözlerine ekledi.
