Francken, Türkiye'de temaslarda bulunan Belçika heyetinin büyüklüğüne dikkati çekerek, İstanbul temaslarını harika olarak nitelendirdi. Verimli toplantılar gerçekleştirdiklerini ifade eden Francken, birçok girişimciyle 100'den fazla görüşme yaptıklarını ve bunun çok büyük bir sayı olduğunu dile getirdi. Francken, Türkiye'de çok sıcak karşılandıklarını ve fazla yemek yemeleri nedeniyle ülkesine döndüğünde diyete başlaması gerekeceği esprisini yaptı. Türkiye temaslarında birçok sözleşme imzaladıklarını anımsatan Francken, Baykar'a çok başarılı bir ziyarette bulunduklarını kaydetti. Francken, Baykar dışındaki şirketler ile de görüşmeler yaptıklarını paylaşarak, İstanbul temasları kapsamında tersane ziyaretinde bulunduklarını belirtti. Ankara temasları kapsamında Milli Savunma Bakanı Yaşar Güler ve Cumhurbaşkanlığı Savunma Sanayii (SSB) Başkanı Haluk Görgün başta olmak üzere tüm yetkililer tarafından çok sıcak karşılandıklarını belirten Francken, Türkiye-Belçika Savunma Sanayii Günü etkinliğinin tarihi bir an olduğunu bildirdi. Francken, bu kapsamda Türkiye ve Belçika'dan çok sayıda girişimcinin bir araya gelerek anlaşmalar üzerinde çalıştığını, bağlantılar kurduğunu ve sözleşmeler imzaladığını vurguladı. Türkiye'de bulunmaktan büyük memnuniyet duyduğunu aktaran Francken, "NATO'nun doktrinini gerçekten değiştiren iki ülke var: Bunlardan biri Ukrayna, diğeri ise Türkiye." dedi. Francken, inovasyon, Ar-Ge, teknoloji, yapay zeka, dron karşıtı sistemler ve dron gibi Türkiye'nin üzerinde çalıştığı tüm alanların dönüşümün merkezinde yer aldığını anlatarak Baykar'ın da bu alanda en ünlü şirketlerden biri olduğunu vurguladı. Bu alanlarda çalışan başka firmaların da olduğunu hatırlatan Francken, bu durumu "akıl alıcı" olarak nitelendirdi. Francken, NATO tatbikatları ve Ukrayna'nın dron alanındaki çalışmalarına işaret ederek, "Bu nedenle değişmemiz gerekiyor. Savaşma biçimimizi de değiştirmemiz gerekiyor. Göreve başladığı ilk gün, dron entegrasyonunun hızlandırılmasından sorumlu yeni bir general atadığını belirten Francken, "Çünkü muhalefette olduğum yıllarda, bu tür bir teknoloji üzerinde çalışmak etik ve ahlaki olmadığı için dron teknolojisi üzerinde çalışmıyorlardı. Ama herkes bunu yapıyor. Dolayısıyla yerinizde sayamazsınız, çünkü yerinizde sayarsanız savaşı kaybedersiniz. Umarım hiç savaş yaşamayız." diye konuştu. Francken, dünyadaki mevcut durumun endişe verici olduğunu kaydederek, hazırlıklı ve yeni teknolojilere sahip olmanın önemine değindi. Bakan Francken, ülkesinin dron teknolojisi alanında iki büyük projesi olduğunu belirterek, şöyle devam etti: "Anti-dron projesi var. Bu, 1 milyar doları aşan bir proje. İhale süreci şu anda devam ediyor. Konsorsiyumda en az bir Belçikalı şirketin yer alması gerekiyor. İhale sürecinin yıl sonunda sona ereceğini düşünüyorum. İkinci konu ise anti-dron teknolojisi. Bu alanda pek çok şey oluyor, birçok yeni gelişme var, araştırdığımız konular var. Dolayısıyla Türk şirketleri için de pek çok imkan var. Siz çok öndesiniz, bu yüzden size yetişmemiz gerekiyor ve sizden çok şey öğrenebiliriz." Francken, teknoloji alanında Türkiye ile Belçika'nın birlikte çalışabileceğine işaret ederek, Türkiye'nin, Belçika'da gemiler için motor üretimi yapan ABC şirketiyle de çalıştığını hatırlattı. Türkiye'nin yeni muharebe tankı projesinde de birlikte çalıştıklarını aktaran Francken, üzerinde çalışılan çok fazla kabiliyet olduğunu dile getirdi. Francken, ziyaret kapsamında birçok niyet mektubu, mutabakat zaptı ve anlaşma imzaladıklarını kaydederek, İstanbul'da 37 belge imzalandığını ve Ankara'da da imzalanacağını aktardı. Bu ziyaretin birçok somut getirisi olduğunu belirten Francken, Belçika'daki en büyük yatırımlardan birinin Lommel kentindeki yaklaşık 750 milyon avro değerindeki cam ambalaj fabrikası olduğunu söyledi. Francken, ilerleyen günlerde başka büyük yatırımların da olacağına işaret ederek, bugün Milli Savunma Bakanlığı, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı ve Belçika Savunma Bakanlığı Arasında Niyet Mektubu'nun imzalandığını anımsattı. Bunun da somut bir sonuç olduğuna işaret eden Francken, "(Niyet mektubu) Bu, gelecekteki operasyonel eğitim faaliyetlerinde işbirliğini, Hürmüz Boğazı'ndaki mayın temizleme çalışmalarında ve aynı zamanda Karadeniz'de birlikte çalışmayı kapsıyor." dedi. Francken, büyük bir ekonomik misyonun olmasının da çok iyi olduğuna değinerek, görüşmelerin ve söylemlerin ötesinde anlaşmalar imzalanmasının en önemlisi olduğuna dikkati çekti. Türkiye ile Avrupa Birliği (AB) arasındaki Gümrük Birliğinin olası modernizasyonuna ilişkin Francken, yeni bir ticaret anlaşmasına ihtiyaç duyulduğuna işaret ederek, şunları dile getirdi: "Ancak Avrupa Birliği'nde Kıbrıs gibi diğer meseleler nedeniyle bazı tıkanıklıklar var. Bu gerçekten büyük bir sorun ve talihsizlik çünkü bizim size ihtiyacımız var, sizin de bize ihtiyacınız var ve birlikte daha güçlü olabiliriz. Bu yüzden gerçekten bu meseleleri ele almalı ve çözmeyi denemeliyiz. Belçika bunu çözemez. Biz, kesinlikle yeni bir anlaşmadan yanayız. En kısa sürede Avrupa Güvenlik Eylemi (SAFE) kredi mekanizmasına dahil olmanızı istiyoruz. Ama her zaman nihayetinde iş, vetolara ve diğer siyasi sorunlara geliyor." Francken, Ankara'da düzenlenecek 2026 NATO Zirvesi'ne Türkiye'nin ev sahipliği yapacağını hatırlatarak, bu zirve kapsamında özellikle endüstriyel üretim ve savunma işbirliği konularının konuşulmasını umduklarını belirtti. Tüm Avrupa ülkelerinin savunma alanındaki harcamalarını artırdığını kaydeden Francken, Belçika'nın da yüzde 60'lık artışla NATO ittifakı içindeki en büyük artışı kaydettiğini vurguladı. Francken, yatırım yapılacak paranın haricinde üretim sistemlerine sahip olmanın da önemli olduğunu ifade ederek, "Sorun da bu, (Belçika) şu anda yeterli üretim kapasitemiz yok ve üretimi artırmamız gerekiyor." dedi. NATO'nun verdiği birlik mesajının önemine dikkati çeken Francken, "Umarım Türkiye yoğun diplomatik çaba gösterir, böylece her şey sakinleşir. NATO ittifakı ve müttefikler arasında çok fazla çatışma ve karşılıklı suçlama yaşanmaz. Her şey sakinleşirse ve bölünme değil, birlik sergilersek çok iyi olur. Çünkü birlik olursak ayakta kalırız, bölünürsek yıkılırız." Francken, İstanbul Boğazı'nda gerçekleştirdikleri sahil turunun ziyaretin en unutulmaz anlarından biri olduğunu söyledi. Dün sahil güvenlik botuyla Boğaz Komutanlığına doğru yapılan yaklaşık 30 dakikalık yolculuk sırasında yunusları gördüklerini belirten Francken, "Bu gerçekten en güzel andı." ifadesini kullandı. Francken, Belçika Kraliçesi Mathilde ile araçta yaklaşık bir saat geçirme fırsatı bulduğunu aktararak, bu süreçte oldukça keyifli bir sohbet ettiklerini dile getirdi. Kraliçe Mathilde'nin ilk kez ekonomik misyona liderlik ettiğine dikkati çeken Francken, daha önce bu görevi genellikle Prenses Astrid'in üstlendiğini belirterek, "Ben her zaman bu ziyaretlere katılıyorum ancak ilk kez kraliçeyle birlikteyim." dedi.
