Each live show will open with Kay and Scaramucci breaking down the biggest political stories of the moment, focused on each city to “provide real-time context in the heart of midterm season,” according to Goalhanger, which produces the duo’s podcast and is managing the tour. The second half of the shows will feature live audience polls, Q&As and “the kind of sharp, unscripted exchange that has helped the podcast build such a loyal following.” Popular on Variety Kay said in a statement, “What makes this tour so exciting is the chance to take the conversation beyond Washington and hear directly from audiences across North America. The show has always tried to make sense of America not just through the headlines, but through the people, pressures and forces shaping everyday life. Doing that live, in the middle of such a consequential political year, feels especially important.” Scaramucci (aka “The Mooch”) added: “The midterms will tell us a huge amount about the future of Trump’s presidency, the direction of the Republican Party, and whether the country can still argue without setting the furniture on fire — ideally before the orange man starts rearranging it again. Katty and I don’t always agree, which is why the show works, but we can kick things around, have a laugh, and show that politics doesn’t have to be a screaming match to be entertaining.” Registered members of “The Rest Is Politics: US” will receive priority presale access beginning May 8, with general on-sale to follow the next week of May 15. Tickets will be priced between $35 and $50 depending on seat location and venue. Here the tour dates: Oct. 2 – Atlanta – Centre Stage Oct. 4 – Toronto – Queen Elizabeth Theatre Oct. 5 – Boston – The Wilbur Oct. 7 and 8 – New York City – Gramercy Theatre Oct. 9 – Washington, D.C. – Capital Turnaround Oct. 11 – Minneapolis – The Uptown Oct. 12 – Chicago – Park West Ahead of the U.S. tour dates, “The Rest is Politics: US” will hold a live event at London’s Southbank Centre on Sept. 6 titled “Trump on a Knife Edge.” Kay and Scaramucci have previously played multiple sold-out shows in the U.K., including an arena appearance at the O2 in London last summer. According to Goalhanger, “The Rest Is Politics: US” goes “inside the inner circles of the White House while exploring the complexities of American society and how they shape the world’s most influential economy.” Per the company, the show regularly attracts more than 8 million streams per month. It’s an American adaption of the original U.K. show, hosted by Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell.
