Türkiye’ye geri göndermek için yine düzensiz göçmenleri kullandığını ve bu kişilerin yakaladıkları diğer göçmenlere işkence ederek eşyalarını çaldığını ortaya çıkardı. BBC’nin çok sayıda ifade, bilgi ve belgeye dayandırdığı haberinde, Yunan polisinin ülkeye yasa dışı yollarla giriş yapan düzensiz göçmenleri Türkiye’ye geri göndermeye zorlamak amacıyla yine düzensiz göçmenleri kullandığı iddiası yer aldı. Habere göre polis içi yazışmalarda "paralı asker" olarak anılan ve emirleri üst düzey polis yetkililerinden aldığı belirtilen grup, 2020’den bu yana gayriresmi şekilde düzensiz göçle mücadelede kullanılıyor. Söz konusu kişilerin göçmenlere fiziksel şiddet uyguladığı, cinsel istismarda bulunduğu ve eşyalarını çaldığı aktarılırken, Yunan makamları iddiaları reddediyor ancak tanık ifadeleri ve bazı resmi belgeler bunun aksini gösteriyor. İddiaya göre bir Yunan sınır görevlisi, "paralı asker" olarak anılan kişilerin bir göçmen kadına tecavüz ettiğini üstlerine bildirdi. Bir başka olayda ise iki göçmen ve eski bir "paralı asker", hem bu gruplar hem de Yunan polisi tarafından bayılana kadar darbedildiklerini anlattı. Bir başka göçmen de üzerlerindeki değerli eşyaları arayan bir kişinin bir bebeğin bezini dahi çıkardığını belirtirken, ortak anlatılarda paralı askerlerin maske taktıkları ifadesi yer aldı. BBC'ye konuşan bir polis muhbiri, maskeli paralı askerlerin her hafta yüzlerce düzensiz göçmeni Türkiye'ye geri ittiğini, bunun da tüm Avrupa Birliği'nin (AB) sınır koruma ajansı Frontex, Yunan askeri ve polisi tarafından bilindiğini öne sürdü. Yaptıkları görev karşılığında para ve düzensiz göçmenlerden ele geçirilen telefonlar verildiği iddia edilen paralı askerlere Yunanistan'dan geçişlerini kolaylaştıracak belgeler de sağlandığı kaydedildi. Haberde, Frontex'in elindeki kanıtlar doğrultusunda hazırlanan bir rapor da yer aldı. Raporda 2023 tarihli bir olayda "Üçüncü ülke vatandaşı" olarak anılan 10 ila 20 arası kişinin Yunan yetkililerin talimatıyla hareket ettiği, yakalanan düzensiz göçmenlerin şiddete maruz kaldığı, çeşitli tehditler aldığı, uygunsuz şekilde arandığı ve eşyalarının çalındığı belirtildi. Raporda ayrıca yakalanan düzensiz göçmenlerin AB'nin insan hakları yasalarını ihlal edecek biçimde zorla Türkiye'ye geri gönderildiği yer aldı. Düzensiz göçmenler de iddiaları doğrulayan ifadeler verdi. Gerçek ismi verilmeyen ve "Amal" olarak anılan Suriyeli göçmen, 2025'te ailesiyle birlikte Yunanistan'ın Türkiye sınırındaki Orestiada kentinde polis tarafından gözaltına alındığını söyledi. Polisin düzensiz göçmenleri iki maskeli kişiye teslim ettiğini anlatan Amal, camı olmayan bir minibüse bindirildikten sonra Türkiye sınırına götürüldüklerini ifade etti. Amal, elinde sopalar olan 7 maskeli şahsın yaklaşık 20 kişilik düzensiz göçmen grubunu yürüttüğünü belirtirken, bu kişilerin bebeğinin bezini çıkartarak aradığını, bir göçmeni döverek bayılttığını anlattı. Bir başka Suriyeli düzensiz göçmen Ahmed ise Yunan polisi tarafından dövüldükten sonra onlarca göçmenle birlikte bir kamyona bindirildiklerini söyledi. Kalabalık ve koku yüzünden nefes alamadıklarını belirten Ahmed, Meriç Nehri kıyısına getirildikten sonra erkeklerin 5-6 kişilik paralı asker grubu tarafından çıplak şekilde arandığını ifade etti. Paralarının alındığını, paralarını saklayanların ise sopalarla dövüldüğünü belirten Ahmed, zorla şişme bota bindirilen göçmenlerin nehrin ortasına kadar götürülüp bırakıldığını kaydetti. Afgan bir kadın ise Yunanistan'dan Türkiye'ye geri gönderildiği 2023'te Farsça konuşan birinin tecavüzüne uğradığı iddiasıyla Avrupa İnsan Hakları Mahkemesi'ne başvuru yaptı. BBC, "Paralı asker" olarak çalıştığını söyleyen bir Faslının açıklamalarını da paylaştı. Haberde ismi Marwan olarak geçen şahıs, bir Yunan polisinden birlikte çalışma teklifi aldığını, korktuğu için kabul ettiğini belirtti. "Suriyelilerden nefret eden bir Afgan" liderliğindeki bir ekipte yer aldığını söyleyen Marwan, 10 hafta yaptığı görev sırasında işini düzensiz göçmenleri botlara koyarak Türkiye'ye göndermek, botları kontrol etmek, göçmenlerden kalanları delil bırakmamak için yakmak olarak açıkladı. Düzensiz göçmenlerden kalan avro ve telefonları polisin aldığını, paralı askerlerin ise Türk parası ve Arap paralarını aldığını kaydeden Marwan, düzensiz göçmenlere yapılan muamelenin kendisini çok üzdüğünü belirtti. Marwan, kimseye şiddet uygulamadığını ancak hem polis hem de diğer paralı askerlerin uyguladığı şiddete şahit olduğunu ileri sürdü. Yunan makamları ise iddiaları reddetti. Mart'ta BBC'ye konuşan Yunanistan Başbakanı Kiryakos Miçotakis, iddialardan habersiz olduğunu belirtirken, Frontex ise hak ihlallerine göz yumdukları suçlamasına karşı çıktı.
