A dog battled against the odds to survive two days nearly suffocating in thick mud after vanishing during a countryside walk. Beloved terrier Krakka failed to turn up two days after a walk with owner Glynis Elgey near the village of Shiptonthorpe, in East Yorkshire, on April 30. After Krakka went missing, Ms Elgey said a pal recommended she reach out to Steve Priestman, of Drone SAR for Lost Dogs UK, which aims to reunite owners with their lost dogs. But when the team could not track her using the drone, they decided to focus on a less obvious location. It was then when they found an area covered in nettles and, crucially, the team heard a whimper. Rescuers set out to find the poor pooch and were able to locate her after following her whimpers. Moments later a barely visible Krakka was found buried in dirt inside a rabbit warren. The pooch is suspected to have gotten trapped after a mini-landslide was triggered. The rescuers plunged their hands into the dirt while poor Krakka was struggling to get out. Thankfully, the little terrier was freed shortly after being found and was reunited with her owner after being seperated for 48 hours. Ms Elgey told MailOnline : "So, then we set to digging – all we could see was a paw. We were so thrilled – we thought we would never see her again." "I was so excited when we found her and she was alive. The first thing she did when we got her out was give me a kiss. "She always comes back – she never wanders too far and I thought "something is stopping her coming back."' A video clip recorded the moment the pet was finally brought to safety. Photos later showed the moment Ms Elgey was reunited with her beloved pooch who looked shaken yet relieved to have been freed from the dirt. A spokesperson for Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK said: "Thankfully while on the search a whimper was heard which came from a rabbit hole where it's believed Krakka had gone into. "The recovery began by DSAR pilot Steve Priestman, ground searcher Jennifer Zarek, along with Krakka's owners David Hudson and Glynis Elgey. They got to work digging her out which took around 25 minutes."المصدر: Mirror | Source: Mirror
