öncülük eden Pedro Martinez, 2025-26 Alexander Gomelskiy Yılın Başantrenörü ödülüne layık görüldü." ifadeleri yer aldı. 64 yaşındaki Martinez, ödülü kazanan 4. İspanyol başantrenör oldu. Daha önce Real Madrid ekibinde başantrenörlük yaparken Chus Mateo (2023-24) ve Pablo Laso (2014-15 ve 2017-18) ile Barcelona takımının başantrenörü Xavi Pascual (2009-10) da bu ödülü almıştı. Alexander Gomelskiy Yılın Başantrenörü Ödülü, 1958'de Riga'yı ilk Avrupa Ligi şampiyonluğuna taşıyan efsanevi başantrenörün adını taşıyor. Gomelskiy ayrıca Sovyetler Birliği'ni 1988 Olimpiyatları'nda altın madalyaya taşıdı ve basketbol tarihinin en başarılı isimlerinden biri olarak kabul ediliyor. Martinez, yılın başantrenörü ödülünü kazanan 14. isim olarak kayıtlara geçti. Bu ödülü üçer kez kazanan sadece Zeljko Obradovic ve Georgios Bartzokas olurken, Ettore Messina, Dimitris Itoudis ve Pablo Laso ise ikişer kez bu ödülü kazandı.
