Barça on the Verge of Securing the Title
Rabat – Barcelona are near to securing La Liga title with only five matches left to play. They moved into this winning position after beating Getafe and watching Real Madrid draw against Betis.
Barcelona’s match against Getafe took place on Saturday at the Coliseum, where they secured a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Fermín López and Marcus Rashford, leaving them few steps away from securing LaLiga title.
“We know we have a big advantage, but there are still games to play and we can’t relax. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. We have to keep this up until we’re champions,” Lopez commented after the match.
The Catalan club can be crowned champions for the 29th time as early as next weekend if they beat Osasuna and Real Madrid fail to win their match against Espanyol. If the title isn’t settled then, Barcelona can secure it the following week by winning the Clásico.
Barcelona shared a photo on social media expressing their satisfaction at being so close to securing the championship. The photo featured players celebrating in the dressing room with a brief description of “Hot, hot.”
“We won, and that’s what we wanted, to play our game and play football. We celebrated the victory in the dressing room, but not the title. We were only focused on getting the job done today” Hansi Flick stated in the press conference.
“I’m very happy with how we played here, with and without the ball. We did very well because it’s not easy. We’ll celebrate whatever comes up at the end of the season, but not today. We were good on all those long balls, and the team was very focused and played very well” he added.
Flick has given his players two days off to recharge before they start training again in the middle of the week for their match against Osasuna.
