Atatürk'ün mozolesine yürüdü. Tekin'in mozoleye çelenk bırakmasının ardından öğretmen ve öğrencilerle birlikte saygı duruşunda bulunuldu ve İstiklal Marşı okundu. Daha sonra Misak-ı Milli Kulesi'ne geçen Tekin, Anıtkabir Özel Defteri'ne şunları yazdı: "Aziz Atatürk, milletimizin iradesinden doğan yüce Meclisimizin açılışının 106. yıl dönümünde, 23 Nisan Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı'nda her şeyimiz olan evlatlarımızla huzurunuzdayız. Onlara armağan ettiğiniz bu bayram vesilesiyle, Nisan ayı boyunca 'Maarifin Kalbinde Çocuk' temasıyla gerçekleştirilen etkinliklerle milli birlik ve beraberlik şuurunu pekiştirmeye gayret ettik. Zamanın ruhunu kavrayan, köklerinden güç alırken ufkunu insanlığa açan, sorumluluk şuuru yüksek nesiller yetiştirmek başlıca görevimizdir. Türk vatanının ebedi varlığını yüceltmek için, düşünen, üreten ve değer katan bireyler yetiştirme kararlılığımızı muhafaza ediyoruz.
