Awkward moment Angus Taylor tumbles off his bicycle and hits the pavement during 1,000km charity ride: 'Pretty sore'

Angus Taylor was taking part in the 1,000km Pollie Pedal in south-east Queensland on Monday when he fell off his bike while making a turn at a roundabout. Taylor got to his feet and climbed straight back on his bike to continue riding.   Despite escaping serious injury, Taylor admitted that he felt a little worse for wear on Tuesday morning. 'I think it's more the wear and tear on my muscles than the skin that's gone on my hip,' he told Sunrise. 'But everything’s pretty sore at this moment.' The avid cyclist initially had no idea whether he was seriously injured. His bike also needed some minor repairs.  Angus Taylor was taking part in the 1,000km Pollie Pedal on Monday when he fell off his bike while making a turn at a roundabout. 'I didn't really know, it happened so fast. It's not the first bike crash I've had,' Taylor recalled. 'I've been riding for many, many years, so I've had some worse ones than that.  'But it's never fun. And you just get back up and go again. So that's what I did.  'And I'm not in denial about falling off my bike either. So important to fess up.' Founded by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott in 1998, the eight-day Pollie Pedal brings together MPs, veterans, community leaders, and everyday Aussies. The event raises funds for Wandering Warriors, which supports Special Forces veterans and their families transitioning to civilian life. 'It's great to be able to support a group of people who have been prepared to fight for our country. And in many cases, they have,' Taylor said. 'These are wonderful Australians and the transition from the military back to civilian life is a big deal for a lot of them.' A very sore Opposition Leader was ready to hop on his bike again on Tuesday Taylor also weighed into the ongoing immigration cap controversy, adding that the Coalition will base its policy on housing supply. 'We expect that'll be well below 200,000 but we'll see what housing looks like over the next little while,' he said. 'The real mistake we've seen in recent years is to allow the immigration numbers to get way above what we can cope with as a country. 'We've got to make sure we match the number of people coming into the country with the number of houses being built.'
