Australia's most 'honest real estate agent' is bombarded with calls over cheeky advertisement: 'Highly effective'

Published: 07:02, 11 August 2026 | Updated: 07:04, 11 August 2026 A real estate agent has been bombarded with messages of praise after sharing a brutally honest review about him in an advertisement.  Bayside Properties agent David Pearce, 40, had the advertisement plastered on a billboard at Wynnum North Station, in Brisbane. A photo of himself was included along with the review: 'We chose David because we hated him the least.' Mr Pearce told Daily Mail his phone had been going off for hours after a photo of the billboard was shared online. 'I think humour and self-deprecation make you human and approachable rather than robotic and repetitive, like marketing seen across many industries,' he said.  Social media users found the brutally honest message hilarious, heaping praise on Mr Pearce for his good sense of humour.  'I'll be honest, if I were needing a real estate agent's help, this sign would make me consider this guy,' one wrote. 'Highly effective advertising,' another said. A Sydney real estate agent has caught attention after posting a brutally honest review of himself on a billboard David Pearce (R) is a co-owner at Bayside Property Agents  Mr Pearce’s first advert (pictured) helped attract attention to his business  'He's also got a bit of a sense of humour and self awareness,' a third added.  'A very honest real estate review,' another chimed in.  Mr Pearce, a former police officer in England, has worked in real estate for eight years - and it's not the first time he has used his dry sense of humour in his marketing. He launched his first billboard in 2023, creating the content and artwork in-house. 'Need to upgrade your location? Call the agent who's next to the bins in the car park by the train line,' the advertisement read. Mr Pearce said that advertisement was well received locally in the Wynnum and Manly area he works.  'The "train line" joke was well received locally. It certainly helped with getting people to know the business and breaking the ice,' he said. Mr Pearce said using humour was a powerful way to get people talking about his business.
