Aussie woman facing homelessness amid the housing crisis is saved by kind act from property manager

Stone Realestate Ettalong's Charlie Killorn said the tenant could have been without a home because the private rental she was living in was about to be foreclosed.  Although the application had no tenancy history, rental ledger or reference from a landlord or property manager, the woman was able to show she had 'paid her rent consistently every single week for the past seven years'.  Ms Killorn told Daily Mail she decided to give the woman a chance because she 'heard how desperate and defeated they were'.    'She was obviously getting rejected for every property she applied for because there are certain criteria that we do have to follow as property managers.' Ms Killorn said she went 'out of her way' to contact the landlord directly and pushed for the application to be approved, even though the landlord was overseas at the time.  'It was a very tricky situation to navigate, going back and forth via WhatsApp to get the application approved,' she said. 'I was ticking as many boxes as I could, knowing that I was also taking a huge risk by taking a tenant that didn't have much information.' Ms Killorn said she told the landlord why she felt comfortable recommending the tenant despite a lack of concrete information.  'I was upfront with the landlord about what was missing, explained my conversation with the applicants and gave my honest professional opinion,' she said.  'At the end of the day, the landlord trusted my judgement which isn't something I take for granted' Ms Killorn called the woman the morning after she received the good news even though it was King's Birthday.  'I'm sorry for calling you on a public holiday, but I've got some good news for you,' she said in the call shared to TikTok.  'I did tell you that I was going to help you as much as I could, and I got the application across the line. 'The landlord messaged me at 11pm last night and I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to tell you, so I thought I'd call you now.' 'As hard as this job can be, we're dealing with real people's lives,' she said.  Many people praised Ms Killorn for the generous act.  'Imagine being at your lowest and someone hands you a roof over your head, you would think this would be a basic right, so happy this lady got a home,' one said. 'You're wonderful not making them have a another day of worry,' a second said.
