Aussie claims he was fined by cops for spraying PERFUME while driving
Published: 06:56, 9 June 2026 | Updated: 06:56, 9 June 2026 A young man who was pulled over on his way to a party has claimed he was fined for spraying perfume while driving. Melbourne man Danny Greige took to TikTok for answers after officers allegedly booked him over the little-known offence. 'I'm on the way to a party and I needed to top up my fragrance,' he explained. 'The cops pulled me over and they're fining me for spraying a fragrance while driving. 'I didn't even know you can get fined for this and [lose] demerit points. 'Can someone please research this and see if it's true?' Transport Victoria states drivers need to have full control of their vehicle at all times. Although there are no rules against spraying perfume while driving, it is up to police to decide whether the action affects the driver's control. A young man has been left in a state of disbelief after claiming he was fined for spraying perfume while driving Aussies were quick to share their thoughts on the fine. 'Is this legit or a joke?' one person said. 'No way that's an offence,' a second said. 'That's bull, I spray my car, put lip balm on, eat and drink, what the hell,' a third said. 'I spray while driving all the time,' a fourth agreed. However, others said the fine was justifiable. 'Taking your hands off the wheel or eyes off the road to apply deodorant can result in a careless or negligent driving fine,' one said. 'Only if your eyes are off the road or your driving recklessly and an officer believes that you're at risk,' a second said. The Daily Mail has contacted Mr Greige and Transport Victoria for comment.
