Politika yapıcıları, özel sektör liderlerini, kalkınma ortaklarını bir araya getirecek etkinlik, "İlerlemenin Dönüm Noktası: Bölgenin Bağlantılı Geleceğini Şekillendirmek" temasıyla yarın başlayacak ve 6 Mayıs'a kadar devam edecek. Bu yılki toplantı, bağlantı, dijital inovasyon ve yenilikçi finansman alanlarında pratik çözümler geliştirme, bölgenin dayanıklı ve sürdürülebilir büyüme kapasitesini güçlendirme konuları etrafında şekillenecek. Tedarik zincirlerinin gözden geçirildiği, teknoloji ve yapay zekanın üretimi yeniden tanımladığı bu dönemde, toplantıdan Asya ve Pasifik bölgesinin geleceğine ilişkin çıktıların alınması bekleniyor. Rusya-Ukrayna Savaşı'nın ardından ABD/İsrail-İran Savaşı'nın yeniden gündeme getirdiği enerji arz ve güvenliği ise toplantıda bölge ülkelerinin odaklandığı ana konulardan biri olacak. Asya ve Pasifik bölgesinin ekonomik büyümesi, dayanıklılığı ve sürdürülebilirliği için enerji bağlantısının önemi panellerde ele alınacak. Ayrıca, 2030'a kadar yenilenebilir enerji entegrasyonunun hızlandırılması amacıyla yapılabilecek çalışmalar da masaya yatırılacak. Semerkant'ın 50'den fazla toplantı, panel ve ikili görüşmeye ev sahipliği yapacağı etkinliğin gelecek yıl Japonya'nın Nagoya şehrinde düzenlenmesi planlanıyor. 1966 yılında 31 üyeyle kurulan bankanın 19'u bölge dışı, 50'si ise Asya-Pasifik bölgesinden toplam 69 üyesi bulunuyor. Türkiye'nin 1991'de üye olduğu banka, geçen yıl kendi kaynaklarından toplam 29,3 milyar dolar taahhütte bulundu. AKB Başkanı Masato Kanda 12-13 Kasım 2025'te Türkiye'ye ilk resmi ziyaretini gerçekleştirdi. Türkiye, geçen yıl AKB'den, Kahramanmaraş merkezli depremlerden etkilenen ihracatçılar için 500 milyon avro, bölgenin toparlanma sürecine yönelik de 150 milyon avro ve 150 milyon dolar finansman temin etmişti. Ayrıca AKB, Türkiye'nin en büyük dış finansmanlı demir yolu projesi olan ve Yavuz Sultan Selim Köprüsü'nden geçecek Kuzey Çevre Demir Yolu Projesi'ne finansman sağlanması için ön mutabakata varılan kurumlar arasında da yer alıyor.
