By NIC WHITE, US SENIOR INVESTIGATIONS REPORTER Published: 19:32, 3 July 2026 | Updated: 19:40, 3 July 2026 Many marital arguments have ended with one spouse storming out of a room to get away from the other. What Allison Schardin did in the aftermath of an ugly tiff with her husband Anthony during a hotel stay in 2024 is of a different magnitude entirely.  The then 38-year-old mother of two took herself down to the hot tub of a Hilton hotel in Minneapolis, where she insulted her husband and bragged about cheating on him to two 15-year-old hockey players who she then sexually abused. Schardin's ensuing behavior landed her with jail time, a place on the sex offenders' register and an eviscerated reputation. It also left two teenage boys badly traumatized. Astonishingly though, her marriage remains intact. Contacted by the Daily Mail earlier this week and asked if he is still married to Schardin, Anthony replied 'Yes,' in a calm voice. Allison Schardin molested two 15-year-old boys during a staycation at a Hilton hotel with her husband Anthony and two children in January 2024 Instead of dumping Schardin for her betrayal, Anthony cancel the divorce proceedings he started before the crime and confirmed to the Daily Mail that they were still together 'We're trying to stay under the radar about all that,' Anthony, 52, said of himself and his convicted pedophile wife, now 40. Stranger still is the survival of a marriage that was on the rocks at the time of Schardin's January 2024 sex attacks. Anthony had filed for divorce in December 2023, just a few weeks before Schardin's behavior sent her life screeching off the rails. The fight that preceded Schardin's sex attack on the two teenage boys centered on plans to split. It is unclear what ultimately brought the couple back together. Court records seen by the Daily Mail showed Anthony filed for divorce in December 2023 - just four weeks before the fateful Hilton staycation. But on April 4, 2024, six weeks after Schardin was arrested, the couple jointly petitioned for the case to be moved to inactive status. After a year without any updates, the case was automatically dismissed. Schardin with her two sons, who were aged 12 and eight at the time of the crime Property records showed the couple still jointly owned a three-bedroom home in Blaine, Minnesota, they bought for $331,000 in 2017.  They are believed to continue to live there with their sons, who were aged 12 and eight at the time of the sex attacks. That the pair were able to patch things up while Schardin was facing up to eight years in prison is all the more surprising given the sheer gravity of her crimes.  Schardin met the teen boys in the sauna and hot tub of the DoubleTree by Hilton in Ramsey, Minnesota, and told them 'about problems with her husband'. 'She said she and her husband were trying to work it out but he hits her,' prosecutors wrote in their statement of probable cause. Schardin told the boys she cheated on Anthony a few times and had sex with an older college-aged hockey player earlier. It is unclear if she was telling the truth.  'At one point, Schardin's husband came to the pool area and yelled words to the effect of, "If you don't come upstairs, our relationship is over",' prosecutors wrote. The boys, who were members of an under-16 hockey team visiting from Colorado, exchanged social media contacts with Schardin and left at their 10pm curfew. Schardin convinced the boys to let her into their room by claiming Anthony was abusive and she was afraid of him and needed to get away Some time later, one of the boys got a Snapchat message from Schardin asking to come to his room. 'Two of the teammates did not want Schardin coming to the room but [the boy] said he agreed to let her come because her husband was abusive and she needed help,' prosecutors wrote. 'Once inside the room, Schardin continued to tell the boys that she was afraid of her husband.' Schardin's claims to the boys about her husband are unproven and were never publicly tested during her criminal prosecution. After an hour or so, she started asking the underage boys about their sex lives.  When the boys told her they were 15, she replied that she was 38 and they were 'old enough to be her kids'. Schardin eventually got into bed with two of the boys, while the third sat in a chair across the room. She kissed both the boys and began molesting them.  'Not for very long,' one told police, because he felt 'very uncomfortable.' Eventually she banished two of the boys to the bathroom and sexually abused the third. At one point, he refused an illegal request made by Schardin.  The other two boys decided to leave the room, and as they left Schardin asked one of them if he had a condom, but he didn't. The boy who stayed behind 'said he was thankful because he did not want things to go that far and Schardin was insisting on them having sex,' prosecutors wrote. When the teenagers told Schardin they were 15, she told them she was 38 and they were 'old enough to be her kids'  He told police the older woman tried to convince him by saying 'let's have sex,' 'we're already here,' and, 'you already have a 38‐year‐old woman, a female in your bed, don't you want to do more?' '[The boy] described feeling stuck in the moment and did not know how to say no. He said that in his head, his response was 'not really' but he responded by saying 'sure,' though he 'wasn't totally on board with it,' prosecutors wrote. Schardin messaged the boys during their game the next day to ask which rink they were playing on. They told her they already lost, but she persisted in messaging, which caused increasing upset among her victims.  '[The boy she molested] said they all started getting nervous and he was shaking on the bench at one point because he wanted to leave what happened the night before in the past and she was trying to follow them,' prosecutors wrote. 'It was really creepy,' he told police. After the team returned to Colorado, Schardin desperately tried to get the boy to keep quiet about what happened in the hotel room. Schardin, then 38, received the stunningly light punishment of just 14 days in jail and 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty in January last year 'I will do or say anything you want, just don't tell the police or report what happened,' she told him. The boy told her he didn't want anything from her and wouldn't say anything, then blocked her - only for her to message the other victim asking about him. Schardin told the second boy 'she hoped he was not mad at her' and asked if his teammate 'regrets it', to which he replied, 'yeah he does.' 'I didn't know he didn't want me to... I feel so bad...' she said. She then made an appalling remark suggesting she was sad to hear that the victim was upset about what Schardin speculated was his 'first' sexual encounter. She made no mention of the fact that he was underage - and that she had broken the law.  Police were notified on January 22, 2024, and interviewed Schardin, who admitted to going into the boys' room and molesting them, but claimed it was their idea. Schardin admitted she asked for a condom, but insisted she wasn't planning to sexually abuse the boys.  'I think I just, things were starting to progress and, um, I think I thought about it for a moment and then I just was like, yeah, no, that's not... and I think at that point it was pretty evident that [the boy] was kind of uncomfortable,' she told police. A year after she was arrested, Schardin agreed to plead guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child aged 14 to 15 in exchange for the second fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge being dropped. Prosecutors argued for the maximum sentence of eight years in prison because they argued she actively sought out the boys for sex. 'The defendant's behavior was not a momentary lapse in judgment. It was clearly planned,' prosecutors wrote in the filing ahead of sentencing. 'Why else would an adult exchange contact information with juveniles that she just met in a hotel and then later go to their room?' The pool and hot tub area of the DoubleTree by Hilton in Ramsey, Minnesota, where Schardin met the boys she molested Schardin's mugshot photo after she was arrested on February 1, 2024 Prosecutors urged the court to 'treat the defendant's behavior as being no less serious than if the defendant were a man and the victims were girls.  'If the genders were reversed, there are few who would believe that leniency is appropriate.' Prosecutors in Ramsey County District Court also laid out the harm that was done to Schardin's teenage victims after the assault.  'They have lost friends, and they have had to endure whispers and harmful comments from others, as if they were the perpetrators,' they wrote.  'Both victims were initially suspended from their hockey team, though they were later reinstated after they explained what happened. That victory was short-lived, however, as team officials then decided to cancel the rest of the season.'  Schardin, who worked as a server at a local restaurant, had described herself as 'a wife, truth seeker, boy mom, singer, and foodie' on her social media profiles. Judge Joy Bartscher ordered Schardin to serve 14 days in jail with credit for the five days she spent locked up after she was arrested. The rest would be served over two long weekends in February 2025, followed by five years of supervised probation. Bartscher also ordered Schardin to do 200 hours of community service and undergo court-mandated mental health treatment. She could no longer have unsupervised contact with juvenile boys and was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Should she complete her probation, her conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor. No comments have so far been submitted.
