AS FAR Take Control With 2-0 Win Over RS Berkane in CAF Champions League Semifinal First Leg
AS FAR did what they had to do on Saturday night against RS Berkane in Rabat: stay patient, stay organized, and then make their moments count.
After a cagey first half that ended goalless, the game slowly opened up, and the hosts began to impose themselves more clearly. Playing in front of their home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, AS FAR looked just a bit sharper, a bit more insistent.
The breakthrough came just before the hour mark. Ahmed Hammoudan found himself in the right place inside the box and guided a clean left-footed finish into the bottom corner. It wasn’t flashy, but it was precise, and, at that point, fully deserved.
RS Berkane tried to respond, pushing forward in search of an equalizer, but they never quite found their rhythm in the final third. And as they stretched, AS FAR took advantage.
With 10 minutes to go, Ait Ouarkhane produced the moment of the night. Picking up the ball outside the box, he let fly with his left foot, sending it low into the bottom corner to double the lead and ignite the stadium.
At 2-0, AS FAR now have a real cushion heading into the second leg. It’s not done yet, Berkane have shown before they can respond, but the Rabat side have put themselves firmly in control of this all-Moroccan semi-final.
